The Kitchen was primarily the domain of the Tredwells’ servants. Households like this one usually had four servants: a cook, who was also responsible for the laundry, and her helper, who also waited table at meals, as well as a parlor maid and a “second girl,” who assisted with general cleaning throughout the house.
